Back in December 2013, a company called WhoAPI Inc. ran a very time consuming automated search for all possible remaining 4-letter .com domain names out of a total 456,976 potential names*.
For example: AAAA.COM AAAB.COM AAAC.COM AAAD.COM up to… ZZZX.COM ZZZY.COM ZZZZ.COM
At that time and possibly for some time prior to this, every single one of them had been taken. It's no surprise. 4-letter .com domains are highly desirable.
Why are 4-letter domains so special? They're short, memorable, and perfect for modern branding.
Today, if you want a 4-letter .com domain, you'll need to buy it from someone else. And they don't come cheap. In January 2025, PACK.COM, sold for $600,000 and in March 2023 CHAT.COM sold for a reported $10,000,000.
